Description | Some people may ask... "What is IBN..?" IBN (The Incident Broadcast Network) is a totally volunteer, not-for-profit hobbyist organization, devoted to taking the scanner radio hobby into the 21st Century by bringing the best FREE, live, online scanner audio broadcasts from around the world to the Internet. IBN was born out of a project originally started in Washington State by Brian B., creator of NINN (National Incident Notification Network), which was a leading edge and very successful incident paging network during the early 2000's. After operating NINN on his own for two years, Brian sold the site to new ownership and stayed on as technical advisor for another two. After leaving NINN, that site has since been merged into another incident notification/paging/news service. Now based out of Las Vegas and looking for a new project in 2004, Brian formed a small team of partners and launched IBN, 'The Incident Broadcast Network', which blended an incident notification/paging system with incident related news/info and multiple live scanner audio broadcasts, all smoothly integrated over the web. Following his goal to keep his scanner projects hobby oriented, all IBN services began as, and still are today, totally FREE. Since then, IBN has gone through a period of steady growth, building from only a handful of live scanner streams, into the present day list of 70+ live TeamSpeak channels with an average of 200 listeners online 24/7 (that's over 20,000 TeamSpeak listener connections per month!), and operating a busy notification service to thousands of users. (*Note - IBN's incident notification system is currently undergoing a major upgrade, in order to bring IBN members the best in real-time incident news). Today, the volunteer IBN staff is made up of 12 Adminstrators who all lend their personal expertise to the list of IBN services, to help make it an interesting and fun experience for all visitors. IBN currently has several thousand members, who participate often in all that IBN has to offer, listening to live scanner action together and talking about it in the IBN Chat Room, reading the news, learning about the scanner radio hobby and the technology that surrounds it, but most of all.. making new friends and having fun! Another very popular feature offering is IBN's Recorded Audio File section, where users can stream (or download) the recorded on-scene 2-way radio comms scanner audio of action packed incidents that were carried live as they happened on the IBN TeamSpeak server. The IBN Incident Photo Albums section is also another "don't miss" part of the site, where incident photographs can be viewed online. Add to all of that, 9-1-1 incident related news articles and information, a great Message Board forum and online Technical Support Team, many useful links to other emergency service sites and resources and you have... IBN, the leader in free, live!, online scanner broadcasting and 9-1-1 incident related services and features. Thanks for visiting, and be sure to share IBN with your friends! Come back soon! - The IBN Team |
