Description | Jackson Astronomical Association Jackson, Mississippi The Jackson Astronomical Association is a non-profit organization composed of members with an interest in astronomy or space-related sciences. Association meetings are held at the Salvation Army Headquarters on Riverside Drive in Jackson, Mississippi on the first Friday of every month. Meetings begin at 7:30 pm and generally last a few hours. In addition to discussing JAA business and getting member input or approvals for various items, each meeting features an educational program for members. Monthly observing sessions at the Butts-Clark Observatory (fondly called the Cow Pasture, or CP, by members) are usually held on the weekend(s) nearest each new moon phase.
