"BOINC ownership or permissions are not set properly; please reinstall BOINC (Error code -1202)" I have gotten this error a few times in the past on various clients and didn't think it a big deal, but on this particular client it is now happening every 1-3 times on startup. It will run fine for a startup or two after I reinstall BOINC as asked, but I don't want to make a habit of reinstalling every time I turn the thing on. I can't find this error code in the BOINC wiki, although I did find one forum post attributing it to an optimized application (I think it was for Einstein?). I'm running all stock apps and client; the only thing I could attribute it to, is that the frequent errors started at about the same time I attached to Enigma@Home. I'm hoping that the project isn't the issue, and that it might be fixed by a new release of the BOINC client, but it seems a likely culprit since I am also having problems with 100% failing WUs on an older G3 client. Host details: MacBook Pro C2D 2.4 Penryn, 2GB RAM, 160GB HD, OS X 10.5.6, BOINC 6.2.18 Attached Projects: BURP, climateprediction.net (on Delayed Detach), LHC@Home, Spinhenge@Home, Enigma@Home, World Community Grid. I would appreciate it if anyone could shed some light on the situation; if they know of a fix, or if anyone has run across this error before. Click Here to see My Detailed BOINC Stats |

IMO you should create a ticket to inform the devs about it. Even if my app is badly broken, it shouldn't affect the BOINC installation. M4 Project homepage M4 Project wiki |

Ok, will do... Doesn't seem to be an issue when there isn't any work running, such as when I have the computer on battery power. When I'm back on land power, I'll try suspending each project to see if that helps any. Click Here to see My Detailed BOINC Stats |

I informed Charlie Fenton, the BOINC developer for the Mac, about your thread on the BOINCStats forums. He is looking into this issue. Charlie Fenton wrote: I suspect that because the actual project code is not going through the BOINC API libraries, it is writing a file or creating a subdirectory with the wrong ownership or permissions, probably inside the slot directory. TJM, if Charlie needs the code for the application, can I forward your email address to him? Jord. BOINC FAQ Service. |

noderaser, to give you an update, TJM and the BOINC developers are busy fixing this problem. They're trying to get it fixed without a new BOINC version, as the problem does appear to lie in the way the application or wrapper copies files to the slot directory. It isn't fixed yet, but things are looking up. Jord. BOINC FAQ Service. |

The problem is fixed in core client version 6.6, but it's not yet available to download. M4 Project homepage M4 Project wiki |

If any of the Mac users here want to become a BOINC Alpha tester, that's well possible. Please look at the Alpha site for instructions. Jord. BOINC FAQ Service. |

Unfortunately, I still seem to be getting this error using the 6.6.0 client. Click Here to see My Detailed BOINC Stats |

Yup. It was recognized by the developers. Try BOINC 6.6.1 that's out for the Mac only. Jord. BOINC FAQ Service. |

Everything looks good so far. Not sure if I'll give 6.6.3 a try, or wait for the next "stable" release. Click Here to see My Detailed BOINC Stats |
