I don't know yet.
I have planned major update for some of the backend code to fix serious performance bottleneck, after that I'll run a short batch of test work just to verify that everything is still working.

Also, there will be a server/website downtime lasting anywhere from couple of hours to a full day - I'm going to test the hardware and maybe replace the last HDD with another SSD RAID5 setup.

About mentioned tweaked apps. Does this mean optimized clients will stop working?

It's possible that I'll add support for this app -> http://www.enigmaathome.net/forum_thread.php?id=814 and it'll run as second application with it's own workunit set, but first I need to see what needs to be changed on the server side.

This would had been nice to had bene informed of 3 weeks ago , some volunteers choose to get paid digital assets for their resources crunching your project , unfortunately due to the lack of work units and non existent communication the Gridcoin community already voted the project out of our Whitelist. Maybe this is something you could re-apply and re-establish with the Gridcoin community after you get things figured out.

The idea though is that everyone crunching BOINC is rewarded with Gridcoin to offset costs.

It is your decision to not join Gridcoin and not get paid. It is... strange to get angry about a possiblity where you, after all, decide to not participate.

And I think he didn't complain about not getting richer (which does not happen anyway so far if you don't get electricity for free) but because of money most Gridcoin people put into BOINC they would not do without.
You may be able to pay 50€ or even more every month for this hobby. Many people are not and still want to further science. Gridcoin gives them the possibility. So it is very understandable that things that affect Gridcoin are important to them.


I am surprised about all the hate that something gets that aims to pay you for your BOINC costs and "lure" outsiders to BOINC and increase computer donations from people already in.

And the point of failed communication from the project admin is valid, if you crunch for Gridcoin or not. There was not even a "I will pause that for a while" information first and some people were seriously concerned something bad could have happened to the Admin.

Just a side effect of preparing the second app - another set of dictionaries assigned to the same message.
It is a short batch and nearly half of it is done already.

P.S. The server downtimes during the last few days are caused by some kind of technical problems at the company that hosts my frontend, not the hardware maintenance work I have scheduled.

I read lots about GPU-related enhancements that are being developed but is this at the expense of the basic program ?

Does this explain why I have no WU for over a month ?

Am I missing something ?

Is there something I should have done / be doing to restart the flow of WU to my computer ?

I am running 64-bit Linux, does that make a difference ?

Likewise I've not had any WU for what must be over 2 months now. I run other projects as well. But my focus was on this one.
I'm running all my machines on Linux 32 bit using Boinc Manager. But no work units are being downloaded.

No WUs for me as well. Must be well over a month now.
I have several projects running just fine, it is only Enigma that is not giving me any new work.

I only got a handful of WUs before the flow stopped, but I did not make any setting changes since then - other than assigning more disk space to BOINC and changing some local computing preferences to adjust crunching to my computer usage model.

Machine is running Win10 64bit. Enigma@Home through standard BOINC Manager 7.6.33, nothing fancy.

- Use CPU and Use NVIDIA GPU boxes checked - I do not have ATI chips in any of my machines so this is unchecked.
- All applications are allowed to run in the Run only the selected applications section.
- "If no work for selected applications is available, accept work from other applications?" box is checked as well
- No limit for number of jobs from this project

I do not quite follow what do you mean by allowing GPU workunits in boinc. I am running Nvidia GPU units for other projects (SETI@Home).

BTW, Enigma started sending me WUs yesterday with no change to settings on my side. I already have a couple done and reported.

With the return of the site after the recent outage, I'm hoping for a return of work units as well. I'm running in the top 20 at Distributed.net and would like to push some of that power over here.

We can only hope and be optimistic but it doesn't look like there will be anything further from this project

I was pretty worried for the health of TJM when the site went completely offline for a few days.

The fact it came back up probably means he is ok. Just not working on this project for other life reasons.

Plus, I believe there is another project with parallel purpose using a different technology so I can see how it would be hard to devote all one's spare time to this project while the other project breaks all the messages.

what is the other project? I am unfamiliar with this.
