I've seen this sort of post in a lot of BOINC forums. It's all down to the maths behind the calculations. A good explanation is in this post: http://www.enigmaathome.net/forum_thread.php?id=96#771 SETI had their fair share of problems with CUDA, and they have a lot more expertise on tap than Enigma does! I think it's safe to say there are a lot of people on here that would like to see a CUDA/OpenCL application for Enigma, but unless it really can work out more efficient there isn't much point. |
