Hi. I just joined this project so i don't know how this works yet. I just wanna know if it is possible to see the tasks running so we know what we are decrypting and if we have decrypted anything at all on our current task ? On seti project we can see graphics on how many % is done and how big signals received etc.. |

Hello, as my experience, this project come without any graphics. Possibly because it's doing mathematical calculations instead of comparing and searching. Hope that help. |

It is not like the climate prediction BONIC. That would show you what has been simulated from your computer. The information of decrypting a WWII or other cypher is letter subsution on a massive scale and it is really a mathematical computation. I guess he could have shown the computation as letters but it is also in German and with no spaces. So a quick eye might find the correct wording. All in all this is a computation / conversion / lookup to find the correct decoding for the enigma. Interesting thought though. Maybe like a % of possible word hits. |

I guess it would be too quick to read anything, as I suppose it's done at computer speed. Back in the old MS-DOS days have you ever tried to read the counter on a program that was designed only to add 1 to the existing counter and then display it? If you did, I think you'll know what I mean. Only the digits for 100's and bigger could be read, the last 2 digits always went way too fast, even on a 8086 computer. The least of the problems probably is the German language. Especially to those who can read German ;) |
