I am starting to get validation errors. They are rare and appear to occur at random. But they are there. The error message is always he same.

The computer affected has never given trouble before. My other project runs flawlessly. The computer ran GIMPS for years without a single invalid result. [Prime stable.]

Not over clocked. Everything stock standard. No dust build up. Ambient temperature low (it is winter!).

Error message follows. Any suggestions?

Could you post the workunit/result ID's ? The error above is just BOINC info about xml option it doesn't recognize; it does not affect computation in any way.

I thought it is related to the problem from the other thread (upload handler). But I have also since few days "Validate error".

Athlon X2 6400: 8047265, 8047238.

The computers have been running for many months without any problems. Other projects (Yoyo, QMC) run without errors. I do not remember until 3 days before that i ever have a "Validate error".

I always use on any computer optimized application: Phenom 9950, Athlon X2 6400 -> OptApp: Athlon64

I will check the computer if I can find any other errors. I will report on Wednesday.

This is exactly the same type of error as in Drudge's case. I call it 'soft error' and I'm not sure why it happens. The data slightly differs from what the server expects to get back from the client. The result is accepted and credits are granted, but at the later stage the result is marked as 'Invalid' by the assimilator, just to generate one more to send out again. It doesn't affect the credits already granted, not even the daily quota.

I thought it may be a bug in the dynamic input file generator, but then the resend results would also be affected. For now it's just unexplained bug.

I think I found the bug which caused these errors, just a minor glitch in the database. Should be fixed for all workunits with ID higher than around 9,400,000

Seems that a problem exists again after the server glitch earlier. I'm seeing validate errors with ''Received file was in wrong format or incomplete.''
One of mine here was a result I was resent again.

This is a server bug. I had to delete/edit small number of workunits, because the validator was switching to infinite loop mode on them.

I think that transitioner somehow missed these WUs (and a couple of others) when the server load was too high, I fixed that.
