Am I to take it that there are to be no more CPU work units? I don't do GPU work units because I don't trust BOINC projects in general with my GPUs. Several years ago I lost 3 brand new GPUs one right after the other while running Cuda processing apps like Seti and Einstein. I don't know if it was because I was running them in SLI configuration. But anyway poor Gigabyte backed them under warrantee and took the hit. Since then I switched to just CPU work units and have not had anymore trouble. I don't process anywhere near as many work units, which were 1000s a day but at least my gear is safe. If Enigma will not be sending out CPU work units I might as well quit it. Does anyone know what to expect? Thanks. |

No one knows what to expect. If you are running BOINC with multiple projects, then it will handle new work automatically if it arrives. I still have the project on my cluster just in case. It did pretty well for a month or so before work flow stopped. Now it just does other projects automatically. |

No one knows what to expect. Same here. I still run Seti, Einstein, Milkyway and Rosetta and get lots of work units from them. |

I have never lost a video card to BOINC. I have generally bought GPUs from Sapphire, EVGA, and Nvidia direct, and have never lost one to BOINC, and I keep my card running 24/7 for months on BOINC and the occasional game. Thanks for letting me know that Gigabyte's video cards are trash! The only times I have lost GPUs are due to a poorly-designed GPU in my laptop (an Nvidia Quadro NVS 140m GPU based on the G86 chip which failed due to the bumpgate scandal shortly after my warranty expired, forcing me to replace the motherboard that it was soldered onto with one with a later revision of the motherboard with a later revision of the G86 that fixed the bumpgate problem and the heatsink because it had a heatsink that had a single use thermal pad) and one because AMD's drivers crashed so often several years ago especially in Microsoft Office and Internet Explorer of all things that made my computer too annoying to use until I changed my video card to an Nvidia card. |
