Most of the wrapper bugs were fixed, but there are still some (mostly minor) glitches:

- sometimes the CPU time is not saved on exit. This is probably a bug in my upgraded wrapper code, but I put it on a 'low priority' list, because it affects only the time displayed on the webpages.

- the wrapper does not call boinc_checkpoint_done(), so the BOINC core does not know that the app does checkpoints. That's why the app is left in memory when suspended. It doesn't hurt much because it's just few MBytes of RAM, but I'll try to fix it soon.

- the MAC wrapper is the only one which still has some serious bugs. It doesn't return the CPU or wall clock time at all. Task Duration Correction Factor (TDCF) is directly affected by this, and after certain amount of tasks processed probably it will drop so low, that the machine will get more work that it can process.
I could use some help with this issue, I'm not really a programmer so it won't be easy for me to fix. I can fix most of the Windows/Linux bugs slowly (even if it means 'trial and error' method), but my knowledge about Macs is close to none, so I can't do much.

these bugs were fixed in the previous versions

1) You can't see progress while the task is running. It jumps from 0% to 100% when the task finishes.
2) Checkpointing does work, but wrapper does not save CPU time. Resumed task looks like started from the beginning, and time reported to the server sometimes is not accurate. It doesn't affect granted credit, because credits are fixed, based on the wu length.
3) Win98/98SE/ME issue: when the task starts, empty console window pops up. I have no idea how to fix it.

The wrapper segmentation faults for me. Can I use the anonymous platform mechanism for it? Or, maybe better, do you have full project source code, so I can compile the application for myself (I use these architectures: i386-ecce-mirbsd sparc-ecce-mirbsd i386-unknown-midnightbsd)?

Sure, feel free to use anonymous platform. You can find app_info.xml here http://www.enigmaathome.net/forum_thread.php?id=17 - replace both executables with yours.

Download enigma sources from http://www.bytereef.org (the M4 project website) and use default BOINC wrapper code: http://boinc.berkeley.edu/trac/wiki/SourceCode it's inside samples directory.

Message 2232 - Posted: 7 Mar 2012, 18:22:09 UTC

I just got another error something like "wrapper 5.26 error". So I sent it off looking for a solution but nothing came back. The particular w/u was at the end of its compute cycle but reported "Computation error". This has happened a few times in the past few days so I thought I'd report it.

My system is:
AMD FX-6100
MSI 990FXA-DG65 m/b
MSI GTX460N Hawk video card - 285.62 drivers
Corsair Vengeance 1866 MHz memory - 8 gb
Windows 7 Pro SP-1
BOINC 6.10.60

I hope this is enough to help. dave

I don't think your problems were wrapper related, perhaps you just had a bad luck and got a bunch of broken tasks.

Anyway, the wrappers are subject to change soon. They were supposed to be updated today, but for some unknown reason the server rejects new app versions and I can't do updates.

I have an iMac running OS 10.8.5.

I tried to attach to the project about 12 hours ago. A number of small files downloaded successfully. One, which appears to be specific to the Mac OS, stopped at 2.14% and has not progressed since.

The log appears to show a communication problem with the server. Is there a problem?

Sorted. I detached and re-attached.

Norton Anti-virus deleted the wrapper as it is considered a high risk item!

Of course, the application fails.

I got me 5 cuda-fermi tasks and they all ended with a computation error the second they were started:

Nvidia driver version: 21.21.13.7892 (ForceWarw 378.92) WHQL / Win7 64

Installing Visual C++ Redistributable for Visual Studio 2015 did wonders.
Still 1 job still ended with computation error after several (3) jobs went okay.

I did that back in November and it seemed to work. The task are now all failing yet again.
