Hi jerWA, Great to see lots of people joining!...few questions - have you tried restarting boinc? i had this maybe a day ago and it fixed it - are you running one of the optimized versions? (runs the tasks quicker :D) Let us know how you get on, we'd obviously love all of your members to be able to crunch reliably on the project! Fitz |

Since yesterday I'm also getting "Message from server: No work sent" in most of my download requests. And when the work request is successful the download fails. I've got plenty of workunits in my account showing "Error while downloading" with a "file not found" message. The are also errors of similar nature reported in the "Checksum" thread. So whatever the problem looks like it's quite widespread. The status page now shows an error rate of 21% (and if I recall right this number normally stays below 5%). |

I'm getting the same errors. I was using the optimized version but when I found that I was getting download and checksum errors I detatched and reatatched to the project so I would download a fresh copy of the app. I didn't install the opti version that time but I still got the same errors. Also tried exiting and restarting BOINC. |

I also reset the project and the manager without any joy. I've suspended Enigma to avoid spamming the server with bad requests. |

TJM the project admin has advised in another thread that this is likely due to bad weather at his (and the servers) location, causing him to turn off the server to prevent hardware damage. Interestingly enough my machine displayed these symptoms for an afternoon and is now quite happy? Probably worth trying once a day or something to see if you can get a good connection going! Thanks for your contribution! (eventually!) |

The optimized app has nothing to do with the shortage of workunits, unless you're using very old app_info.xml, which has no support for second version of the enigma app. If you have seen your client processing awgly100 workunits, then the app_info.xml is not a problem. The 'project has no jobs available' problem sometimes is a result of server downtime. There are always some tasks marked for processing on hosts with low average turnaround time (mostly the 'unlucky' workunits with more than one result in a 'timed out' state). Under normal conditions, it's just a low percentage of tasks, so even if these tasks are stuck in the feeder queue and there are no hosts to pick them up, there's plenty of room for normal priority tasks. But if the server goes up after few hours of downtime, during the first hours there may be a large amount of high priority task building up in the server queue - mostly containing all the resuls that 'timed out' while the server was offline. The feeder queue size at this moment is set to ~200 tasks, so if the number of high priority tasks will be higher than that, there won't be enough room for normal priority tasks. The server status page shows the current number of high priority tasks: High priority tasks are assigned only to hosts with average turn around time lower than 3 days - this helps to keep the db clean, I can't hold workunits here forever, M4 server also has it's own timelimit for each workunit. If it spends too much time here on the BOINC server, the result won't be accepted. So if the tasks is getting close to deadline, it's marked as high priority. There's also a separate problem with some of the 6.6.2x and 6.6.3x core clients not getting work - this has to be a bug in the client's work fetch code, because (as mentioned earlier in this thread already) I've seen these clients requesting 0 seconds of work frequently. Greetings, Noticed these are old posts but I just signed up a few days ago (being my 23rd active project) and this is the only project not fetching any work units for days, still at zero despite updating and checking back the server status... any insight into this please? regards, Peter |
